AB 1767 - Department of Consumer Affairs Conflicts of Interests

AB 1767 would clarify the definition of close family member for purposes of conflicts of interest for public members of state licensing boards within the Department of Consumer Affairs.

AB 1810 – Firearm Industry Accountability

AB 1810 would strengthen California’s firearm laws to prevent illegal gun trafficking by authorizing the California Department of Justice to hold firearm dealers accountable and crack down on firearms used or purchased illegally.

AB 1838 – Disclosures in Public Works Bidding

AB 1838 would give greater transparency to local agencies by requiring a contractor submitting a bid to a local agency for a public works construction project to disclose any history of wage-and-hour violations within the previous five years.

AB 1864 – Gene Synthesis Screening

AB 1864 would protect Californians against the threat of bioterrorism by establishing safeguards to prevent the misuse of gene synthesis technology. This bill would require providers of synthetic genes and manufacturers of gene synthesis equipment to screen customer orders for dangerous pathogen sequences and verify the legitimacy of customers.

AB 1901 – Diaper Ingredient Transparency

AB 1901 would require manufacturers of children’s diapers to disclose their ingredients on both the product’s package and online. By increasing transparency, this bill would give parents the necessary information to make an informed purchase for their family.

AB 1952 – Dental Hygienist Pathway

AB 1952 establishes a streamlined competency-based framework for dentists trained in other countries to become licensed as dental hygienists.

AB 2003 – Access to Statewide Suicide Prevention Training

AB 2003 responds to the ongoing youth mental health crisis by developing and providing a free and permanent online suicide prevention training program available statewide to all K–12 school communities, including teachers, administrators, parents, and students 13 and older.

AB 2121 – Defending Student Equity and Access Act

The Defending Student Equity and Access Act responds to the federal administration’s systematic dismantling of federal student success programs by removing barriers that prevent community colleges from backfilling this loss in federal funding.

AB 2153 – Voter Registration

In 2019, Assemblymember Berman authored legislation that made a series of updates to how voters can confirm their address for voter registration, including two versions of when updates to the VoteCal database could be made. AB 2153 cleans up the Election Code by repealing the now-obsolete version.

AB 2236 – Common Course Numbering Implementation

AB 2236 would set a target date for the Intersegmental Committee of Academic Senates to establish an agreement for implementing a streamlined system-level articulation of community college courses that are part of the common course numbering system, ensuring that students receive credit for these courses and would not be required to take them again after they transfer.

AB 2281 – Office of Elections Cybersecurity

AB 2281 would strengthen the Office of Elections Cybersecurity (OEC) by authorizing it to work with academic researchers and directing OEC to assess if additional resources are necessary to replace cybersecurity support previously provided by the federal government.

AB 2313 – Home Energy Choice Act

AB 2313 would give homeowners the option to electrify their homes using money that utilities would have otherwise spent on replacing their gas service line. In doing so, this would reduce barriers to electrification and advance California's environmental goals.

AB 2448 – Medical Information Privacy Technology

In the years since Roe was overturned, attacks on reproductive and gender affirming care have steadily intensified, threatening access to healthcare services for millions of Californians. AB 2448 would reinforce existing state law and ensure that healthcare providers have access to technology to protect the privacy and security of sensitive medical records.

AB 2558 – Ending the Pay Day Debt Cycle

AB 2558 would protect Californians from payday loans that trap Californians living paycheck to paycheck in a cycle of reborrowing. This bill would align California’s lending laws with the 36% APR cap established in the federal Military Lending Act.

AB 2604 – Statewide Ballot Cure Contract

AB 2604 would provide for statewide adoption of mobile ballot curing, which would allow California voters to fix or “cure” their vote by mail ballot electronically if the elections official determines that the signature does not match the voter’s record, or if the ballot envelope lacks a signature.

AB 2682 – Rideshare Unionization Appeals Process

AB 2682 would make clarifying changes to the Transportation Network Company Drivers Labor Relations Act to resolve ambiguity and specify an appeals process.
